Family Law

Families are made of imperfect people, and sometimes the difficulties we experience because of those imperfections require the courts to become involved. Naturally, clients who are going through hard times in their family life are experiencing a tremendous amount of stress. While we cannot provide family counseling, we can provide legal counsel with a compassionate, personal, and practical approach to your issues.

Where possible, we try to find areas of mutual agreement.  We believe that this is the best way to limit the emotional impact, the stress, and yes, the cost, to our clients.  When both sides take this approach, we find that it leads to a much more lasting, positive resolution for both parties.  In short, it is simply the right thing to do.  Unfortunately, sometimes not all clients or their lawyers follow this approach.  If that happens, then as always, you can be assured that we will vigorously strive to protect your interests.  In any case, we will work toward a resolution that is fair and just.

Some of the most common Family Law issues for which we provide representation are:

  • Pre-Marital Agreements ("Pre-Nups")

  • Separation & Support

  • Divorce (including high-value asset division)

  • Child Custody Disputes (including Modifications)

  • Child Visitation Disputes (Enforcement and Modification)

  • Child Support Matters (Enforcement and Modification)

  • Spousal & Domestic Abuse (Restraining Orders)

  • Spousal Support Matters (Temporary Support, Alimony, and Alimony Modification)

  • Name Changes

  • Enforcement Actions (Bringing and Defending Rules to Show Cause)

  • Settlement Negotiation
